A Walk in Bangkok's Parks.

Bangkok is an urban paradise. The buzz of life on the streets and the high rise buildings that shape the skyline make Bangkok unique. It is this mix that lures people in to maximise city living and embrace everything that the metropolis has to offer.

Amongst this Bangkok is fortunate enough to have public green spaces for all to enjoy. Scattered throughout the capital these parks come to life as locals use them to partake in their outdoor leisure pursuits. Thailand has a very sense of community and this can be easily witnessed in the group fitnesses activities that occur daily. Usually happening before or at the end of the working day, people congregate in the parks for their fitness fix and nowhere better to see this is in the city’s most prestigious park, Lumphini Park. Likened to New York’s Central Park, this expanse of green space has two lakes, children’s play areas, a library, various outdoor gyms and Band Stand used for hosting events. The running track is well trodden before and after work, with a cycle lane for those on two wheels to clock up some kilometers.

Naturally people want to live as close to Lumphini Park as possible and ASHTON Silom and ASHTON Chula-Silom are both within its reach. This well established park has managed to maintain its exclusivity over the years and also regularly holds events and festivals.

Not too far from here is Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park that is easily accessible from ASHTON Chula-Silom and also IDEO Q Chula-Samyan. This innovative park is a new contender for Bangkok’s park scene and has been built to store nearly one million gallons of rainwater during the wet season. Modern in design, it manages to house an amphitheatre, playgrounds and lawns. It is still fairly unknown but a great spot in Central Bangkok.

Sukhumvit is blessed with two expansive parks. Benjakiti Park which boasts a huge lake and a perfect cityscape backdrop, that stretches so far that one end is close to Asoke and ASHTON Asoke, whilst the other is closer to Rama IV ideal for residents at IDEO MOBI Rama 4  The other popular Sukhumvit park is Benjasiri next to Phrom Phong BTS and ASHTON Residences 41  A popular local hangout with similar activities to Lumphini Park but on a slightly smaller scale. Here sporting options are in abundance with a host of group exercise like tai chi and aerobics, plus plenty of other space to enjoy under the shade of the trees.

Chatuchak Park situated next to Bangkok’s famous Chatuchak Weekend Market and so also IDEO Phaholyothin Chatuchak. This is a much loved weekend hangout especially amongst people wanting a place for a picnic. Bikes can be hired to zip around the perimeter and there is also butterfly park and neighboring Queen Sikrit Park that is brimming with flowers.
